Our History
When esteemed banker, philanthropist, and visionary Mr. Habib Esmail’s 4 sons migrated to Pakistan, they recognised a great need for high quality schools for the local Muslim population. Together, the four brothers decided to establish educational institutions that would provide an excellent education to all who needed it, without discrimination. Since 1955, the Habib Education Trust has helped to establish 3 highly successful schools and continues to educate scores of Pakistani children every single day.

Each of these gentlemen were chosen by Mr. Mohd. Ali Habib for their talents in various fields.
Habib Education Trust
The Habib Education Trust was established in 1955 with the goal to:
- Establish and manage several quality educational institutions in the Karachi area.
- Grant financial aid and scholarships to make a high-quality education accessible to deserving students.
- Provide a wholesome and encouraging environment to develop the future generations of Pakistan.
As of today, the Habib Education Trust operates three major schools in Karachi, i.e., the Habib Public School, the Habib Girls’ School, and the Ghulaman-e-Abbas School. Together, these three institutions cater to the educational needs of nearly 5000 students and 500 teachers.

Our mission is to fully commit to our social responsibilities as best as we can. Giving back to our communities is a core focus of the Habib Education Trust. This commitment is best illustrated in our dedicated management of a wide variety of social services.

The Habib Education Trust is an organization of service. Our vision is to supervise the exemplary development of Pakistan’s future citizens. We do this by providing an environment that is conducive to student’s personal, spiritual, and professional development.

The Habib Public School
The Habib Public School sprawls over nearly 18 acres of prime Karachi real estate. HPS students enjoy two swimming pools, an AstroTurf hockey field, two large sports grounds, a centrally air-conditioned gymnasium, an auditorium, and a cafeteria. The school campus is also home to spacious classrooms fitted with state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities, several science and computer labs, libraries, and projection rooms.
The Habib Girls School
The Habib Girls’ School is a purpose-built facility in the heart of Karachi. Besides its state-of-the-art classrooms, HGS also boasts large playground facilities, an auditorium, lunchroom, several computer and science labs, a unique Maker Space facility, and a teaching kitchen for interested students. We are proud to declare that our girls regularly secure top positions at the AKU board exams for Matric and Inter. HGS girls also participate at several inter-school sports tournaments throughout the year and bring home trophies each year!
The Ghulaman-e-Abbas School
The Ghulaman-e-Abbas School has been serving the community since 1958. The school’s custom-built facilities include a variety of spacious classrooms, a huge playground, a swimming pool, and hostel/boarding facilities in the heart of Lyari. The Ghulaman-e-Abbas school caters to female students from Kindergarten to Grade V and to male students from Kindergarten to Grade X. The school offers an excellent education to students who may come from financially challenged backgrounds, and we are proud to report the hugely positive impact the GAS has made in the lives of countless children and their families over the years.

Our Trustees
Mr Hamid D. Habib
Mr Hamid D. Habib had outstanding leadership qualities and was chosen to head the team. He was an astute businessman who set up and organized several Habib family initiatives. He remained the chairperson of HET until 2000.
Mr. Rashid D. Habib
Mr. Rashid D. Habib worked at the Habib Bank and later served as the president of the Bank until it was nationalized. He was an avid swimmer and an excellent diver. Infact Mr. Rashid Habib had been chosen for the olympics diving team to represent India in 1948. However, due to the creation of Pakistan he chose to move to this new nation and gave up the opportunity of a lifetime.
Right from the inception of HPS Mr. Rashid Habib served as the Managing Trustee of the board. Under his close watch the vision to have good Pakistani schools with a strong nationilistic base was realised. He also went on to help develop a curriculum in which equal emphasis was placed on academics, sports and extracurricular activities. In his over 30 years of service he brought the schools from their infancy to eventually be established among the leading schools of Karachi.
Mr. Muslim Habib
Mr. Muslim Habib took over as Managing Trustee from 1987 till 2018. He was a constant source of guidance and motivation to the school leaders, staff and students. His unfailing support was evident by his regular presence at both schools and at every major or minor school event. During this time the Habib schools continued to grow and flourish.
Mr. Qumail Habib
Mr. Qumail Habib was appointed as Managing Trustee in 2018. When the pandemic hit the world a year later he used the opportunity to restructure the school premises, its management and its systems. His vision is to have a school of the future while maintaining HET’s traditional values. During this time a complete overhaul of the schools was initiated with emphasis on improved teaching and learning, quality human resources, state of the art science and computer laboratories, innovative libraries and improved sports and extracurricular activities. The implementation of these plans will continue over the next school year. The effects of the upgrade have already become evident and will be further noticeable in the coming years.
