Habib Public School Karachi stands proudly on an expansive 18-acre campus, making it one of the largest schools in the city. Strategically located in the heart of Karachi, the campus is designed to provide a balance of academics, sports, and extracurricular activities.

Students enjoy access to a 25-meter swimming pool, an astroturf field, a multipurpose gymnasium with seating for around 1,500, spacious classrooms, modern laboratories, STEM labs, and libraries.

The Inception of Excellence

In the early 1950s, Habib Public School was born out of a vision. When the four sons of Habib Ismail, a banker, philanthropist, and visionary, migrated to Pakistan, they realized the urgent need for high-quality schools run by the Muslim community. Their mission was simple yet profound: provide excellent education for all, without discrimination. With subsidized fees, modern teaching practices, and state-of-the-art learning facilities, Habib Public School (HPS) came into existence a dream turned into reality.

Official Opening & House System

On July 7th, 1959, Habib Public School began with just four houses: Ahmed House, Ghulam Ali House, Dawood House, and Sharif House. The school’s first administrator, the late Mr. Yousuf Qasim, oversaw admissions, staff appointments, and expansion projects. With his dedicated leadership, HPS began its journey of growth and development, setting new benchmarks for education in Karachi.

Academics & Sports Culture

Between 1959 and 1963, Habib Public School built its reputation not only as an academic powerhouse but also as a sports leader. The pioneering faculty believed that physical education complemented academic growth, shaping well-rounded individuals. Lessons in teamwork, resilience, patience, and respect, learned on the playing fields became lifelong values for Habibians, nurturing future leaders and responsible citizens.

Rapid Growth & Dedication

On its very first day in 1959, HPS had only 3 students. But within a year, the school reached full capacity, a testament to its growing reputation. Despite its marshy location and lack of public transport facilities in the area, families prioritized sending their children to HPS. Many students walked long distances, from Saddar and Cantt Station, just to attend classes. This commitment reflected the unmatched demand for a Habibian education.

By 1963, Habib Public School had grown into one of Karachi’s most respected institutions. In just four years, it had transformed from humble beginnings into a high-profile academic center. Infrastructure Expansion

Between 1963 and 1978, HPS witnessed major growth through land reclamation projects and infrastructural expansion. A second hockey field was developed, alongside a 25-meter swimming pool, an auditorium, and modern physics and chemistry labs. The number of classrooms also increased, ensuring more students could benefit from quality education. This era marked HPS as a pioneer in providing outstanding facilities to its students.
