Our Approach

Habib Girls’ School has always been committed to providing its students with a modern, top quality education. In line with the national curriculum, our syllabus has been designed to meet the needs of the 21st century, making sure that our students develop their digital literacy, critical thinking skills, and creativity they will need in their future professions.

The Aga Khan University Examination Board

About the AKU-EB examination board

Habib Girls’ School was one of the first educational institutions to affiliate with the AKU-EB in the early days of its inception. In their own words, the Aga Khan University Examination Board “Represents an indigenous educational movement created for Pakistani students, with an emphasis on concept-based learning and a conscious rejection of rote memorization that plagues many Pakistani schools today.”

The impact of this collaboration has been phenomenal in every respect, from the spheres of teachers’ professional development to the development of students’ critical thinking skills. The board’s emphasis on assessing student’s conceptual understanding has truly radicalized the teaching and learning process at HGS. With a keen focus on inquiry-based learning and regular assessments, our students have blossomed into excellent independent thinkers who perform exceptionally well in the board’s high stakes examination. Indeed, the study skills that our scholars learn while preparing for the AKU-EB exam allow them to continue to succeed when they reach their individual institutions of higher learning.

AKU-EB has also led a transformative role in the education sector of Pakistan by including the leadership and faculties of schools and colleges in a continuous process of learning and sharing best practices through regular seminars and conferences.

Curriculum & Assessment

The HGS Secondary Section aims to develop students’ sense of independence when it comes to their studies. Classes VI to VII follow national curriculum. When students reach Grade IX, they make the seamless transition to the AKU-EB curriculum. Up until grade VII, students were subjected to a strict “no grades” policy. From Grade VIII onwards, students were given a blend of formative and summative assessments

Head Teacher’s Welcome Message

Our motto ‘Education for Empowerment’, leads eventually to ‘Enlightenment’. We earnestly believe that students graduate from this school with a sense of social responsibility and giving back to Pakistan. We endeavor to set them on a path to become a change agent in society with the strength of an enlightened mind and a worthy character.

Our students are at the core of all our plans; we aspire to give them the best experiences of their academic journey. HGS strives to ensure a conducive environment where every child develops the desire to seek knowledge with wisdom and strength of character. In doing so, our students are encouraged to greet each day with a smile, pursue excellence with grit and rigour and develop an attitude of compassion and accountability. Our robust co-curricular and extracurricular programs connect and enrich the instructional program aligned with the National Curriculum of Pakistan. We offer a strong conceptual base for our students. Our formative and summative assessments balance facilitates them to become self-directed learners.

The students of HGS consistently attain exceptional results in the AKU-EB annual examinations with several overall and subject distinctions – which are increasing each passing year. In addition, the girls’ secure top positions in sports and other inter school competitions. The school regularly witnesses their return where they enter chanting ‘Naa’ra-e-Habib!’ with winning trophies in hand. This speaks volumes of the tradition of Habibians being high achievers at everything they set out to do.

Students’ views and their voice are an important part of our learning community. The students’ council is elected every year by our student body. Their objective is to analyse and execute ideas collected from the entire school. Senior faculty of HGS guide and mentor the members of the council to empower the young girls and to cultivate their leadership qualities.

These accomplishments are only possible through the work of brilliantly talented, ever-enthusiastic and committed professionals, who believe in bringing out the best in every student. I am proud of our esteemed faculty and staff who bring with them their diverse talents, and passions. Their commitment to students extends far outside the classroom and well beyond the workday.

Holistic development of an overall personality requires consistent effort and the trust of parents as important stakeholders. Our partners in this cause have always been consistent in support and in giving us feedback towards the children’s learning and development. Together, we will continue to turn challenges into success. I feel immensely proud to be a part of such an exceptional learning community which we call ‘The Habib Family’. May Allah bless us with ease at each step.
